Beloved - I have read your many answers on Naam, but I dont feel satisfied with the answer. I'm hoping you can help me further?

Throughout Sahib SGGS, we are told to "Paajh Keval Naam" recite nothing but naam.

many people beleive naam is the word "waheguru" - where is this said or written??

what and why? do you beleive Guru Ji is referring to when he tells us to recite the naam (I know Naam is Name, but what is the name of god?)

I know you have previously said reciting any bani is naam jap, but when you understand it, what the bani tells you to do (generally) is naam jap.

so by reciting most bani you would be in fact reciting instructions, not actually doing as the instructions say

Sat nam. Gurbani IS the shabd, IS the Guru. "Bani guroo, guroo hai bani, vich bani, amrit sadhay. " Guru Ram Das wrote a shabad, http://www.sikhnet.com/GurbaniKirtan/tr_1440a.html where he explains just how to recite Wahe Guru. Guru Gobind Singh gave Waheguru as the mantra for his soldiers, who recited it in battle and in martyrdom. You can take any shabd, and turn it into a mantra by repeating it. You can take mul mantra, or one of the sloks of Sukhmani, and recite it as mantra, as naam. You can say "god god god" as mantra. The only command in teh entire SGGS is "jap" and you find this in mul mantra. The rest of the Siri Guru explains the experience of naam, or the experience of those who ignore the naam. Stop intellectualizing this. Pick something, practice it daily for 40 days, and see how you feel. Naam is known through experience, by DOING. Guru ang sang,
