Summary of Question: | Wearing A Turban |
Category: | Turban |

I am a Sikh Amritdhari girl and have been considering wearing a turban.Currently i wear a patka, and one day would very much like to wear a turban, as the Guru Ji's intended.
However i have found from my sister (who wears a turban) that people will treat you differently. I have just finished my first year at University and there are not many Sikhs who go there and most of my friends are white i am worried that they will treat me differently. I know that if they are real friends they will accept me for who i am, however i have only known them for about 9months.
Sometimes i also feel that i dont know enough about Sikhi to deserve to wear a turban.
My parents havent pressured me at all, and have said it is up to me whether i want to waer a turban. However i once said i will start wearing it after i finish University and they said that means i probably wouldnt do it.
I would very much appreciate your opinion on this.
Waheguru Ji KA Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh.

Wahe Guru Ji ka Khalsa
Wahe Guru Ji ke Fateh!
People are supposed to treat you differently. You have been crowned by your Guru.
It is sign of our commitment and the visible blessing of our Guru.
Anyone who would stop being your friend because you are wearing your turban is not a friend at all. It is your sparkling eyes, your loving heart, your sweet words and your kind smile - the cherdhi kala that shines the Guru's light - which will bring you the right friends.
