All these words refer to self-actualized and spritually enlightened souls. They could be from any religion (not limited to Sikhs). The Sukhmani Sahib has an ashtapadi describing and praising each one of these people. However, there's no question of comparison among them since they all personify the same virtuous qualities. I hope this clarifies it for you.

Hello,

When I listen to recitations from the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, I often hear the terms Sant, Sadh, Sadhu and Brahamgiani mentioned. I was wondering what these terms mean exactly? Do they refer to different types of Sikh holy people?

Also, when I visit different temples, some speakers praise Sants (for example) and some put them down. What's going on here? I hope you can clarify this for me. Thanks!
