Summary of Question:Does God forgive you when you make a mistake?
Category:General Sikhism

The Siri Guru Granth Sahib says that after you die, all the good and bad actions you commited in life will be narrated before you, and everything bad you did will come against you in that time.. I am just wondering, that if you did something against Sikhism, or something wrong in your life, would God forgive you? If you are aware that what you did was a sin, and knew you were wrong, would it be okay? Because many people make mistakes in their lives, and don't realize the effect it has until everything is over. Does God forgive your wrong doings?

thank-you very much for your time.

God forgives everything. God is love. But the universe was created with rules and karma, and everything you do in life you are accountable for. If you make mistakes in life and want to wash away that karma, perform seva. It is through service to others and meditation that you can "right the wrongs" of your past. The important thing when you make a mistake is to learn from it. Recognize it and learn how to avoid repeating it in the future. If you have any doubts or fear in your mind, go to the Guru. Hopefully if you do not have the Siri Guru Granth Sahib in your house there is a gurdwara nearby where you can go to read from the Guru or meditate and listen to the reading of the Guru. Read until you find peace. Sometimes it may take a short time, sometimes hours.

Humbly,
Mangala Sadhu Sangeet Singh Khalsa
