Partaking of the Amrit of Khanda Baata, is a COMMITMENT FOR LIFE. Once partaken, one cannot back out.

A commitment to do 5 Banees path EVERYDAY.

A commitment to keep all of the 5 Kakaars.

A commitment not to do any of the four Kurehats.

Some may feel that they are not yet ready to make that commitment. Any one who cannot make a commitment for life, to commit to ALL of the above things, is not yet ready. It is a FULL COMMITMENT - not a partial commitment.

Sikhism as started by the 1st Nanak, was a path of Saintliness. The 10th Nanak, added the spirit of a Lion - to fight injustice. And thus, KHALSA is both a Saint and a Soldier. Kirpan (one of the Kakaars) symbolizes the Soldier aspect of the Khalsa. There may be some who are not Blessed with the strength to bear arms and may not feel comfortable wearing a symbol that they could never use. These persons are not yet ready to make the commitment even though they may be ready to fight with pen rather than the sword - they are not ready.
