Summary of Question:	How Many Different 'Castes' Are There ?

VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH.

I am curious to find out how many different proffession's there are back in Panjab (e.g Jat),what these are called and what they do.Please would you be as kind as to e-mail the reply.
I would also like to thank you very much for providing such an informative site for young Sikhs to find out more about their history, way of life and their faith.

The Gurus' asked that there be no castes, that there be only Khalsa.

If you wish furher information, the Language Department of Patiala, the Punjab government has a full book on "Castes in Punjab". There are so many innumerable castes and subcastes you cannot even count.
