Category: | Turban |

This is with regard to "Can A Sikh Woman Also Wear A Hijab?" which can be found at http://www.sikhnet.com/sikhnet/youth.nsf/3d8d6eacce83bad8872564280070c2b3/d6745b911d3e604e87256ed70068f052!OpenDocument . I just want to point out that veil is strictly forbidden in Sikhism. Please go to http://www.sikhs.org/women.htm and read under "Guru Amar Das" It is clearly stated : "Guru Amar Das also believed that women wearing veils (purdah) was demeaning. The Guru refused to meet the queen of Haripur or to allow any women into the congregation wearing a veil."
Just wanted to make it clear.
Thanks

Sat Sri Akal!
I agree, wearing a hijab is against Sikhi, the point of a hijab is not to protect but to in some sense demean. A Sikh will not wear a hijab, a hijab is not a crown and is not a symbol of royalty. A turban is.
