HI,

That white residue is access of fixer that shows up after drying. Use less fixer and when applying hair fixer , use water(few drops) along with it.

making beard a bit wet while applying fixer may help , however that residue is cuz of access fixer. Reduce the amount , and trust me if u will apply it carefully, hair will still fix.
