Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
It is said that Sikhs celebrate Diwali to commemorate the release of our Guru with many other Kings, as i have read from another e-mail posted on your site. Don't you think that there are many other more important dates or days on which we can celebrate other more significant events, such as the birthdays of our many other Gurus? And even though they might be celebrated in many, if not, all countries, it is not celebrated with as much joy or pomp. I seriously think Diwali is an excuse of celebration only because it coincides with the festival of the Hindus. What do you think?

You are right. There are so many Gurupurabs we can celebrate. You can create the traditions in your famly and with your Sadh Sangat.
For example...the Sikhs of Western origin celebrate the enthronement of Siri Guru Granth Sahib as a big festival. On October 28, we celebrated with huge festive parades of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib with children and kirtan and Gatka troupes through the streets of Los Angeles and New Mexico. We take the "Word of God" into the streets of the US to proclaim the power of God in the Word of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib.
The Guru created Holla Mahalla in reponse to Holi.....
It is really not important to react to other's holidays or compete...the important thing I think you are wanting is more meaningful and joyful relevant observences.
