There is no rule that says that a Sikh can only marry a Sikh. In fact, by the dictates of the Guru's we are all one creation of the One Creator. Intermarriage between Hindu's and Sikhs is very historical.
The rule to marry a Sikh is a socially desirable situation for the strength of the family and because it is supportive to the spiritual committment of the partners and the future of their children.
When a person takes Amrit, they elevate themselves to a new level of spiritual and social commitment. One of the guidelines given to new Amritdhari Sikhs is to relate to all women as sister, daughters, or mother. The reverse is to relate to all men as brothers, sons or father.
Dating is a socially directed activity in Western society. It is not a prescribed activity of our Khalsa way of life.
If you are dating, that is your choice. For every date there is a pit. When you ask for spiritual reference in the Sikh way of life for dating, simply, there is none. Better to meet people as a group to have fun and get to know each other.
