Technically, according to our Sikh rehit, there is no difference between trimming and cutting. If one keeps the hair tied up or atleast braided together and oils the hair on a regular basis, the hair will naturally repair itself. The ends split due to being exposed to the elements, ie, wind, heat, cold. But, if the person is determined to wear the hair down and loose, then trimming is better than cutting. GTKK
