It's not simply a question of physically having intercourse. The idea behind this is to be pure in thought, deed and projection. Guru's teach us to still these desires/impulses of the mind and focus our energy on the love of the one God. Even if physical intercourse isn't involved it is the matter of letting one's mind get involved in lust. Everyone has a choice of where they put their energy. The Guru teaches us that involving one's self in lust, anger, greed, pride and/or attachment does not amount to anything of worth. They do not help us reach our destination or contract Love with the Lord. In Sikhism we believe in the natural balance of the life of a householder because we know we are human, but the Guru also tells us that conquering one's mind is the key to conquering this world, thereby breaking one's self of the ties that keep us here. The key is to guide one's mind to the places that will produce something of worth, like meditating on loving God. Internet intercourse doesn't qualify as a worth-while use of one's energy.
