Sat Shri Akal

I have got questions regarding daily banis, which are usually included in Nitneem guthka.
In the Sikh Rehit and other places i have heard of the word 5 banis..i wanted to know something about that so i searched this forum..i found an answar..
In my understanding we should do the following banis in a day:
1) Japji
2) Jaap Sahib
3) Swaiyye
4) Rehraas
5) Sohla

But on the answar in this forum i could read about also about Anand Sahib ( 40 verses) and Chopaie ( which all are usually used at the Amrit ceremony). And the moderators wrote also that a khalsa should also do banis like Svayia 'Deenan', Chopaie 'Pranvo aad ekangkara...', Sukhmani Sahib, Shabad Hazarey Pathshahee Dasvee, and so on.
All that is no problem, once u are a khalsa, u know the path of life, u get u early and do the whole thing inc. Sukhmani Sahib, that is surely a good rutine

So my question is Why do we/or the Rehit call it 'five' banis as it is said to do both Anand Sahib and Chopaie, and others.. It is maybe that some of these banis are included in Anand Sahib and i understand that..
1) But for my sake please could u just once more write do what u MUST (no necessarily can) do daily? (in a neat and clean order with stated pauri nummbers and all, so for once i can know what i am doing)
2) When did this practice can in existance, where is it written that makes it so inspiring to be included in Rehit (which Guru or others came with this practice or 'rule') isn't a Islamic tradition also to do 5 prayers daily ( but that is surely a whole another thing)
Thanks
Sorry but this is the type of ques. i write : long and tiresome ..
Sat Shri Akal

(REPLY) Sat Nam. quoting from Ceremonies and Code of Conduct of Sikh Dharma ("Victory and Virtue") the link to which you can find for yourself on the Sikhnet home page the daily banis given by Guru Gobind Singh are as follows:
Japji Sahib and Shabad Hazaray; Jaap Sahib with Tev Prasaad Swaiyaas; Anand Sahib (40); Rehiras Sahib with Baynti Chaopai; and Kirtan Sohilaa. so, depending how you count, there would be seven daily banis. These banis are more than "inspiring" they actually carry power and energy to help you through your day, and prepare you for the night. I suggest you read about their Power and Effect on Page 35 of Victory and Virtue. I hope this helps. May God bless you and Guru guide you. !
