"Sikhs procalim to be a separate group with only the similarities being: Names of Hindu Gods and Goddeses in their scriptures, all their Gurus being born in Hindu families, use of Hindu terms like prasad, kirtan, concept ek- omkar (from the Upanishads), vegetarianism, pratcice hindu Yoga"

"On one hand you forsake your Hindu roots and claim your religon as being above all others, and on the other practice Casteism and blame Hindus for it!!"

I dont know what the person is trying to prove here but just because their is the names of hindu & hindu godesses in the Sri Guru Grant Sahib Ji doesnt mean we worship them or for that matter do any idle worship. Punjabi consists of many different languages because a word or two is similar in hindi doesnt mean nothing, Vegetarianism is a totally different issue where Sikhism forbade
eating any type of meat where as hinduism does not allow meat from the cow because their god(s) reside in them (as u can see SIKHI is alot different)

Sikhism is based on equality which means we belive everyone has the right to their own religion. Where did u get the idea that we claim our religion being above all others ? we DONT practice casteism, that was the main goals of our first master Guru Nanak Dev Ji..too forget casteism, idol worship. Casteism is strictly a cultural thing not religion. Hindu roots ? Sikhism has Hindu roots but is far from Hinduism

""You are a confused lot!!! The Khalistan is in your turbans!! (Khaali- stan)""

Before you make comments like that you should acknowledge which Sikh Guru saved your relgion from extinction. Also who use to bring back the Hindu girls when they were given to the Mughals like toys ?

Gur Fateh
(REPLY) Well, your "question" is really a reply to someone else's comments, but I thought you deserve to have your answer seen! Other than your last paragraph which reveals how annoyed you obviously were by the posting to which you responded, I think you have stated things rather well! I doubt if we can "convince" anyone about the Sikh religion. either they underestand it and appreciate it, or they don't. We respect all religions, let us hope others can do the same. We are definitely a separate and distinct religion, based on the universal teachings introduced by Guru Nanak to his sishyas (students) called Sikhs, and expanded upon by his successors, and embodied in the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, our Shabd Guru. May we follow the teachings of our Guru, and inspire others to do the same. Blessings, Sp
