Summary of Question: | Once Merged With Vaheguru Can Our Ancestors See Us? |

In other religions they believe that their dead relatives are watching over them and that when they die they will be reunited with lost loved ones.
From my limited understanding of Sikhi once one of our relatives has passed from this life they shall either merge with Vaheguru or shall be reincarnated if they still have lessons to learn. So within this is their any scope for our dead relatives to watch over us or for us to ever be reunited with them?
Also once reincarnated would it ever be possible for a person to be able to recall a past life and conciousness via deja vu or through something like hypnosis? Because I have heard of cases where people claim to be able to recall a past lfe while under hypnoses and describe in detail events that took place. Their is also the claims of those who claim to be able to open a channel to reach and speak to the dead.
Finally what is the stance of Sikhi on the issue of angels and ghosts.
I look forward to your reply. Thank You.

Sat Siri Akaal. You understand Sikhi correctly: one either reincarnates or merges with Waheguru. Moreover, we have Guru. Why does one need one's ancestors to watch over one if s/he has Guru?
Before becoming Sikh, I read books (not written by or about Sikhs) that suggest that those who haven't merged do not necessarily reincarnate RIGHT AWAY. And stories of near-death experiences indicate that sometimes our loved ones are there when we leave this physical form through dying. You could do some reading and draw your own conclusions.
Still, it is not Sikh to pray to or expect one's ancestors to look out for them from the other side. Guru serves that purpose for all Gursikhs, not ancestors, who even from the other side are powerless compared to Guru. Moreover, to continually call on one who has died is a form of keeping them attached to the earth plane!
As for ghosts and angels: Sikhi acknowledges the existence of angels (they are referenced periodically in Siri Guru) but that's the extent of it. Sikhi also acknowledges that ghosts exist: they are people who have not fully crossed the ocean, so to speak, and are stuck to the earth plane as spirits. Such beings need special help to get 'home' and prayers to Guru on their behalf will help that.
