Category:General Sikhism
Date Posted:Tuesday, 7/08/2003 6:57 AM MDT

I HAD EARLIER POSTED TWO QUESTION. BUT NEVER GOT ANY RESPONSE. AS NARRATED IN MY EARLIER QUESTIONS, THAT 'DURING SOME YEARS AGO (1984) DUE TO THE PREVAILING CIRCUMSTANCES, I HAD TO CUT MY HAIRS. AFTER THAT, I GOT HUMILIATED FROM MY OWN FAMILY MEMBERS FOR THIS ACT. NOW THE SONS OF THOSE 'FAMILY MEMBERS' ARE SETTLED ABROAD AND HAVE GOT THEIR HEADS CLEAN SHAVEN AND THESE FAMILY MEMBERS ARE ENJOYING AT THEIR EARNINGS. IN WHAT WAY COULD I MAKE THOSE PEOPLE FELT ASHMED FOR THEIR DUAL CHARACTER/OPPORTUNISIM. BECAYSE I HAVE SUFFERED A LOT FROM THESE PEOPLE WHO TERMED ME AS MANMUKH AND DESCRIBING THEMSELVES GURSIKHS.

(REPLY) Sat Nam. Revenge is NEVER an intelligent motive for action. If people are hypocites, that is their karma, their problem. Don't make it yours. Get on with your life, and stop obsessing over how to make other people feel about anything. Short hair or long hair, a Sikh is supposed to be kind, above all. If others are not, that is NOT your concern, what matters is your own character, your own personal relationship with your God and Guru. Drop the past, so that you don't poison your future with resentment and anger. If you read and understand Japji Sahib you will learn that Guru Nanak taught that God created ALL creatures, "good and bad" -- and it's not for us to judge them, only to judge and assess ourselves, and try to live a life that leads us to union with God and Guru.
