Waheguroo Sangat.I would liek to touch on two point, one was mentioned in a topic yesterday about why we look different. Put it like this, on my way to the gudwara today i walked through a subway that smelt of strong unrine and as i passed deeper into it i saw a man sleeping on the floor while i was listening to nitmen i asked him if he wanted food, he replied yes but he didnt show me his face, nor did he see mine so i got him the stuff. When i returned he just stared at me for ages, he was a white man, and i dont htink he ever expected a 'brown skinned guy helping him' He smiled and i walked of to Gudwara. Know ask urself one thing, what will he remeber about turbaned people now? Thats how strong our identities are!! In the same subway a man tried to steal my camcorder, he was drunk, things got difficult and i had to resort to placing my hand on my kirpan, which is a foot long and very visible. He stopped but now 1 month later he still remebers me everytime he sees me. Our identity is so strong, so different we stick out like blood on snow! Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh. If u say ur a sikh, act according, beacuse it can also work the otherway!

The importance of Gudwara is very important but now it has declined to a mere casual visit. If i appreared on Tv tomorrow and announced Guru Nanak was sitting in india i bet 10 million sikh would flock from the 4 corners of the planet to see him but we dont undertand when we go gudwara or dont..... the 11th guru is sitting there in its form and the kirtan and gurbani is its mouth talking to u. Think about it next time to enter the Gudwara and remeber guru ji is sitting there when u bow ur head!!!
SORRY for the length but i have a question also. I am no scholer in religion and i was just curious because i read a book about a sant from RadahSwami..? talking to audiances in America. I have to admit he was very good and very absorbed in Naam but i didnt undertand one thing. He was aked what that iron bracelet was on his wrist and he replied, oh its nothing, i was forced to have it coz i was born in a sikh family and its of no value or meaning to me! Now this striked me as very stange coz their teaching seem to be 99.9% based on the Guru Granth Sahib and they say they follow thre previous livign guru's. but if u go back far enough surly the first Radah swami must have followed Guru Gobind or the guru's teaching?? Then i askd myself well then the first ever Radahswami didnt gollow his master....Guru Garnth Sahib or Guru Gobind SIngh ji. Im not saying they are wrong in anyway but I feel Guru Gobind saw the damger in havng a living guru and banned it as he knew what would happen with the fake saints and know these groups are making the mistake? Ok thanks
Vrinder

(REPLY) Sat Nam. Thank you for sharing your experiences! As for "living guru" - you are right, Guru Gobind Singh saw the danger in it, and that is why we have Siri Guru Granth Sahib as our only living Guru. As for the kara, we know that it is one of the 5 K's given by the Tenth Master and it represents our "bondage" to God and Guru. It is meaningful and important to those who wear it with humility and faith. blessings, SP
