Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
Practically speaking, if it is cold and a Sikh female who doesn't wear a turban needs to keep warm outside, they SHOULD wear a hat, since 60% of body heat escapes through the head. I've never heard that a bareheaded Sikh woman CANNOT wear a hat, although I have known Sikh women who REFUSE to wear anything but a chuni on their heads. Seems to depend on the person and their upbringing. That said, yet ANOTHER reason to wear a turban, ladies! Keeps your head warm in winter, cool in summer, and keeps your aura steady when the winds blow strong (which in some areas is all the time!).
