This is a good question. I have wondered about it myself. I cannot give you a definitive answer...or quote scriptures, but I have my own theory. If infact one believes in reincarnation, we evolve from more simple forms of life until we are granted a human life. As the animal kingdom is killed off or displaced because of our industrial take over of their environments, their numbers are dramatically decreasing. Those souls are perhaps, then, reincarnating into human form. Taking this a step further, I wonder if the demise of animals at the speed at which it is occurring is forcing souls to take on human bodies too soon, when they are not ready in their consciousness to be humans. Some times I also wonder, though, if animals aren't more conscious than we humans are. Does any mother in the animal kingdom kill her offspring? It is extremely rare.
Can this partially explain the senseless cruelty that exists in our world right now. Yes, we have had extreme cruelty inflicted from one human to another, but in the history of mankind, have we ever experienced such senseless violence as one child killing other children, or murder just for the "thrill" of it? There are many things, of course, that can explain this type of senseless violence...divorce, violence begets more violence, poverty, environmental pollution, diet, addictions...but I also wonder if the balance between the species has been thrown so out of balance that we are experiencing grave consequences as a result.
I open this up for discussion. What do you all think? Blessings, JJK
