1.Through Gurbani We know that God is the cause of the causes or everything that happens, happens by the will of the almighty God.
2. Gurbani also state that we will get pain or happiness due to our past karma.(Does past KARMA means my deeds since my birth OR past life.)
Following the above guidelines, whatever i do now good or bad, is either the result of my past karma or the will of God.
Than why are we preached on doing the good deeds. If my destiny is pre-written than does it matter what i try to do or not to do, whatever is going to happen is going to happen. At the same time i read about SAHAJ DI AWASTHA.
Kindly guide me through this confusion.
Yours faithfuly.
(REPLY) Sat Nam. It is God's will that we should pay our karma! It is also God's will that we have the freedom to choose to live according to God's will, and follow the teachings of our Guru. By practicing a righteous way of life, living as Khalsa, we give our heads to the Guru, and offer all our actions on the altar of faith in God and Guru, doing our best not to create more "bad" karma. Karma is created from past lives as well as in this life. And that is all God's will! Destiny is not fate, and everything is not prewritten carved in stone, so that you CAN make your life better by actions that create favorable results. It seems like a paradox, but it's really not that complicated. The kinder, more compassionate, more serviceful, more devotional we are, the more we will experience the presence of Guru in our lives, and the closer we will be to following God's will. Everything is ultimately Guru's grace, and if you recall in Japji Sahib, Guru Nanak remarks that God makes some to stray from the path, and some He keeps close. So, again, we each can make the choice to stay close, and pray for that blessing! SP
