Sat Siri Akal, Navjot.

Gurdwara is a place for a Sikh to go meditate on the words of the Guru, purify himself or herself, raise his or her consciousness so he or she can go into the world and do the Guru's service in every day life. Gurdwara is not a place to push a political agenda, and people who have turned it into a platform for politics are creating their own karma. If it makes you uncomfortable, don't go. You and your friends can have your own Gurdwara in someone's living room that focuses on devotional singing and meditation on Gurbani. That is one of the beautiful things about being a Sikh - you don't need the building, all you need is the Guru and the company of the holy. So - if it doesn't make sense to you, start hosting your own Gurdwara in your own home and have Gurdwara in a way that does make sense to you. Making prasaad is easy. You don't need professional ragis do the kirtan - you or your friends can do it. You and your friends can recite the Ardaas. You and your friends can take the hukam and afterwards, talk amongst yourself of what the hukam meant. It's your relationship with your Guru - own it and make the relationship work for you.

As for Dasvandh, where there's money, there's the potential for corruption. Again - if the way your Gurdwara is handling Dasvandh doesn't make sense to you - don't give it there, give it somewhere else. Find a project that to your heart and spirit seems like the Guru's work and give your 10 percent there. Or - set aside 10% yourself and, when you've saved anough money, do a project that you feel is worthwhile. Again - your money, your Dasvandh - it isn't subject to someone else. You have to act in your own highest consciousness and have is make sense to you. The best is to give it to the Gurdwara and then put yourself in a position where you can be part of the decision-making process of what happens to the money. That may be a long-term goal to shoot for. Take ownership. Become the custodian. The future of Sikhi - what it becomes - is in your hands.

I hope this has been helpful. Keep asking questions - you'll do great.

All love.
