Sat Shri Akal ji,

I work out every other day or so, Many friends suggested i take vitamins/minerals as i don't eat meat and can't get much potasium or something which u get from meat from vegitables, which helps develop muscles. Most vitamins have b12 in them which is extracted from animal fat or from meat/fish? *i am not sure* So i was just wondering, should i take those vitamins? I don't have the names but u can get these vitamins in most general outlets and doctors suggest adults take them 1/day, i am 18/m/calif btw. Lookin forward for the reply. Thankyou

You can get potassium in banana's and green leafy vegetables. You can get B12 in nutritional yeast, wheatberries. Your body can also manufacture B12.

However, the best vitamins for vegetarians, and anyone for that matter, are food based vitamins. These vitamins are produced from food, so you can take them without meals and they will give you the supplement that you need. One such company is "Rainbow Light". The company "Solgar" also makes vitamins for vegetarians. You can find what you need in the Health Food store or Food Co-op.
