I would like to start off by saying what a wonderful website you have. This website is changing the lives of many teenagers including myself. I wrote a question to you before and I was delighted and greatful to see the response. Thank you!

My question is, is it OK for sikhs to get a tattoo like of a Khanda or something. Because I would like to get one later on in my life, but first I need to know if it is OK, according to religion. Thank You again.
God Bless You

This has been discussed at some length earlier on this site. No, you shouldn't get tattoos.

Tattoos are taboos for two reasons. First, it is altering your body from how God created it, similar to cutting hair.

The second reason is physical. It puts toxic material permanently into your skin. Because the body is interconnected by the meridians (the points used in acupuncture treatments), the ink is going to be constantly creating an irritation in the body, depending on where the tattoo is. It could cause health problems as you get older, and you won't even know why.

One more reason. It is permanent. Do you really want this on your body when you are 80 years old?
