How painful for you.
I have a question for you. Have you studied and learned about the Sikh religion? Do you know how to greet your Sikh family members with "Wahe Guru Ji ka Khalsa. Wahe Guru Ji Ki fateh"? Can you share a love and respect for the Sikh Gurus and our Shabds from Siri Guru Granth Sahib....? Are you so immersed in the material ways of the Western world that you have not taken advantage of how to reach out to the Sikh religious and cultural part of your family? Do you know how to dance the Bangra or Ghidda?
You will probably have to reach out to your sikh family with deep sincerity and respect and break the ice. That may be hard bite to chew. It is most unfortunate that your family seems to be at war with itself.
Perhaps you can look into the story of your Sikh family to understand their pain and disappointment and not feel so victimized.
It is not a question of white or non white. Nor is it a question of being Christian or Sikh. We are one creation of the One Creator and someone must be neutral enough and elevated enough to live this truth for the sake of all your family members. Love, kindness, humility and grace starts with you and will radiate out.
God bless you.
