Sat Sri Akal,

A SANT is someone who has reached very high levels and is very close to Waheguru. You can say that a Sant is an enlightened being.

A GIYANI is someone who performs kirtan and paath in exchange for money. Being a Giyani is a job just like any other job.

In the western world, the distinction can be made between a saint and and a minister. A Saint is someone who is enlightened, whereas a minister is someone who has studied religion and knows about it.

One can be a Sant or a Giyani, or both.

I hope this helps.

Gur Fateh,
HSD
