Saadh Sangat Ji first I would like to turn your attention to the great jobs the mods do.....anyways I would like to address the comments made on flesh for amritdharis.

Simply, meat is not allowed in Sikhi. How do we know? Well Guru Hargobind, very very simply says, "DO NOT EVEN GO NEAR MEAT OR FISH". This is in his hukamnama and every hukamnama written by him contains this seal so it must be authentic.

There is also a similar hukamnama from Guru Arjun Dev although I do not know any other details regarding it. It is still around in India.

Banda Singh Bahadur, who was given temporal responsibility of the Khalsa, also gave a Hukamnama not just advising against, but prohibiting flesh.

There are plenty of SGGS quotes also, but many people like to twist Gurbani and give alternate meanings so I wont post any.

Anyone with a basic grasp of Sikh History will know that what Guru Ji forbade was KUTTHA meat. Ask any person or Muslim what they think this word means. They will say any MEAT. That is where confusion arises - on the interpriation of KUTTHA as halal or just meat. The verb KUTTHEY is also used in the SGGS meaning "to kill" so KUTTHA obviously means "killed" or "carcass" obviously.

Historians like to twist things to make them pro meat - some people like to use a quote from Bhai Gurdas Varan and twist it to make it pro-meat, but they forget that there at least 2 or 3 other quotes on the same subject (killing goats) which plainly forbid eating their flesh.

Bhagat Kabeer says in his Bani (not in SGGS) - "The Hindus do their Jhatka, and the Muslims their Halal, but compassion has left them both".

These words of wisdom are actually very deep. Did you know that a animal killed Halal-style actually feels no more pain than one jhatkaed? In a German (Hannover?) University some scientists tested this. Thus there is very little difference between Halal and Jhatka meat.

Meat is very damaging to spirituality. Try tucking into a beefburger and doing some paath afterwards. Check out all the Brahmgyanis we have had - Baba Deep Singh, Baba Gurbachan Singh Bhindranwale, Baba Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Bhai Jeevan Singh, Bhai Randhir Singh, the list can go on, they are all vegetarian. Meat is very damaging to the soul. To take one life to keep ones own is in my opinion the epitamy of selfishness.

On the subject of the Sikh girl who fantasises about a non Sikh, you should know that what you are indulging in is called "Kaam" or lust. Guruji says to us "do not look at another women (sexually), even in a dream". The same applies for women. The fact is if you are corrupted your mind with filthy thoughts of sex all the time, how will your mind ever become pure? Kaam, Krodh, Lobh, Moh, Ahankar, these 5 things (lust anger envy attatchment ego) are the enemies which we are told to destroy. These things affect the mind and thoughts only yet involving oneself in them is no doubt a sin.

To be called a "Sikh" is a title not easy to gain. You have to clear your mind of worldly filth and become attatched to only Waheguru. If you are truly dedicated to being a good Sikh then you will try and improve yourself and restrain your mind from such thoughts. A famous Gursikh named Bhai Rama Singh had HUGE kaam problems to begin with, it took him years to destroy his kaam, he warned us that kaam is like soot, it sticks to us and blackens our mind......if you cut down on your kaam now then it will be easier to progress spiritually later.
