Waheguru jee ka Khalsa!

Waheguru jee ki Fateh!!

Firstly, I'd like to compliment Sikhnet for answeriing the Sikh youths Questions, and give a hand full aplaud for your great effort.

I am however, surprised reading questiones where youth ask questions whether on may marry outside marriage according to Sikhi or NOT.

At many times Have I ntoiced thta Sikhnet 'responders' have responded that its completly okey, as long as you can put the children on God's path.

I disagree, and my major arguement against this would be - Akali Phoola SIngh jee, and Ideal saint-soldier, when Jathedar of Akal Takhat order Punishment for Maharaja RAnjit Singh jee, for marrying a Muslim,
how can we then answer such a sensitive question, by saying that, 'its okay to do so, as long as you can handle the kids, and that the parents agree'

I hope I have nto offended anyone in anyway,
And would like to say that I always enjoy reading this section.
thanks a lot
regards

Sat Sri Akal!

I agree with you - I think someone who is a real Sikh will never even think about marrying someone outside of Sikhi. But I don't agree with your major argument.

I think when someone really learns what Sikhi is about, that person would not want even the slimest of chances to have their kids fall in the wrong path. And by marrying a non-Sikh, no matter how much discussion and preparation has been done before, there is always a chance that the child will not be a Sikh. Why? Because this chance exists even when BOTH parents are Sikh... then obviously it would be bigger if only ONE parent was Sikh. A True Sikh parent would want to give his/her child the best chance to become and stay a Sikh - and that is done by having the full support of TWO Sikh parents.

Gur Fateh,
HSD
