I'm currently pregnant and I have a question about a Sikh baby boy's name. My in-laws have suggested the name "Kabir" and what I want to know is that is it a suitable SIKH name?? I've searched online and it says the origin is Arabic. If you could give some insight on the background of this name I'd appreciate it. Thank You.

Dear one,
Kabir is a beautiful name. This name is in SGGS because so many beautiful
and special hymns of Gurbani were aritten by Kabir ji. Look inside SGGS and read them and fall in love with this channel of Wahe Guru.
Kabir means, Great one of God. He was a saint that tried to unite the Hindu's and Muslims into a single monotheistic faith. His 541 verses can be found in 17 Ragas in the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. Be sure to read about his life and you will be so surprised and happy.
The Gurus' wrote in many different languages including Persian and Arabic. They traveled widely and spoke the language of the people wherever they were.....just as we speak English.
Blessings to you and your baby,
