Sat Sri Akal, I am very depressed to-day. I have just heard from my sister-in law that my nephew has started taking drugs again. He was treated in the clinic and he was not all clear but he was lot better. My question to you is their any gurbani's path I can do for my nephew. Which can help him not to take these drugs. He is only one nephew we have. My brother is doing what ever he can. We all sister's have a great faith in god and I am sure there must be a salok from Guru Granth Sahib which you can recommend us. My brother also want him to go to Amritsar Gurdwara, but there is always something that's stopping him to go. Do you think going to Amritsar Gurdwara and having bath under the Duk Bhanjan Beri will god cure him. Please ask all the Sad Sangat to do Ardass for us and for everybody who is suffering from the same problem.

Thanks in advance

Your Dasi
Surinder

Sat Siri Akal.

My prayers are with you and your family. The shabd Putaa Maataa Kee Aasees is a great prayer to do to give support to your nephew.

Drug addiction is a very tenacious disease and currently there is no cure for it. There are a lot of treatment programs that can get a person clean for a while, but ultimately, addiction is a disease of the Spirit. It happens when a person's Spirit feels hopeless to express its True Identity and the drugs become a way to numb the pain. Going to Amritsar Gurdwara would definitely bestow blessings upon your nephew. But the "cure" for this lies within himself and no one and nothing can get him to stop taking the drugs until God blesses him to truly decide that he's ready to put aside the drugs and deal with the pain lying underneath it.

There are support groups out there for family members of those addicted to drugs and it may be helpful for your family to attend some of those support meetings. By sharing and listening to other people who are in similar situations, it may help bring some relief to your own pain and grief, and it may also give you some ideas how to best deal with a loved one who is lost in the world of drugs. I know personally what a very painful world it is that you are living in.

The prayers we pray for our loved ones help them in ways we can't understand, and they also help us heal, as well. Pray for him and educate yourself about the nature of drug addiction so you can better understand what it is he is going through and what your family is going through, as well. In the meantime, know that God is with him and is guiding his every step, even if it's difficult to see at the moment where the journey is leading.

All love to you.
