Summary of Question: | "Krodh" |
Category: | Love & Marriage |

I know that in Sikhism one should control the 5 sins of the mind (kaam, krodh, lobh, moh, ankaar). My problem is with Krodh, I feel my anger is getting the worst of me, it's destroying my family life. I feel my wife is the main cause that fuels this rage inside me, I have two small kids ages 7 and 9 who I love very much they might be the only things holding us together. How can I have a cool head when I'm faced with such situations that make me angry? Is there any kind of prayer I might try? I don't know who to turn to for help except God.

Prayer is the Power, and God will help you. But God also helps those who help themselves. If you are reacting to your wife with anger, and you want to stop it, then you need to chant God's name in the Ambrosial hours every morning to clear out the problems in your sub-conscious. You should also try to discuss with your wife what it is that she says or does that triggers your anger. Can you do that? Most problems between people are problems of communication. However, no matter what anyone else says or does, how we react to them is our responsibility -- it is the ego and the intellect that react with anger. The more you communicate with your soul through meditation and Nam Simran, the more you will be able to respond (rather than react) with neutrality to other people, including your wife. Your problem is not a simple one, but if you truly want to replace that anger with love, then I know you can succeed. Call on Guru Ram Das, the Lord of Miracles to help you.
