Hi, I was wonder if you could help me out with a few thing? First it says in the guru granth sahib that god is our brother, sister, mother, father. But then why is god always referred as a he by almost every line in the guru granth sahib that talks about god?

Also I thought we were not supposed to eat meat or harm living creatures such as animals, but whenever I hear the story about the creation of the khalsa, I hear that the blood that everyone thought were the punj piaray when they went into the tent, one by one, was actually that of a dead goat.

The reference to God as "He" is done out of respect by the translator who comes from a male dominated society. However, I have seen a place in the Guru where God is referred as "she". Anyway, God encompasses all, he-she-it. So, don't get too obssessed with this.

I have not heard the creation of the Khalsa coming about with the killing of goats.
