I would like to respond to Erica who is searching for a sikh group that does social work in the US. The ones that come to mind are United Sikhs (www.unitedsikhs.org), SMART and The Sikh Coalition. Each one has their niche and are doing excellent work

United Sikhs - does grass root work in Sikh communities such as Health Fairs, Blood Drives, ELS classes etc.

SMART - Monitors media coverage about Sikhs

Sikh Coalition - Takes on legal challanges faced by SIkhs.
