although he is not a sikh now he is very close to sikhs, and i've noticed that most of his friends are sikhs including my parents and he always goes on about the gurudwara's he has seen in pakistan plus he quotes alot of gurbani and his surname is Sandhu as well. Sandhu is mostly known for being the surname of a majority of sikhs.
ah well thats all i can say but i will presume that many did convert cos they just weren't strong in their faith. when i first found out his family had converted i wanted to rename him the wuss uncle but i was instantly told off...by my parents. they told me that who knows what situation they faced and it is not right to call him stuff. .....i can not say wuss then ......

Sat Siri Akaal. Thanks for sharing this. Since it was not your uncle himself that converted you certainly should NOT call him wuss uncle! Your parents are right on this, and practically speaking, the 'sins of the father' are not the 'sins of the son' too. Really, not everyone has nerves of steel and the courage to go with that, for whatever reason. For example, some saw preserving their families as more important than allegiance to Guru. We have to remember that all this is God's play, and 'cowards' are part of it (see the 18th pauri of japji on this). Guru ang sang,
